Synopsis :

This film follows Vidya, the protagonist of the film, a young, a dynamic, self motivated TV news correspondent, who is switched from covering entertainment to covering crime. ‘It’s Breaking News’ presents this newly discovered style of journalism wherein, experience and interest of a reporter takes a back seat and the decision of the news channel takes precedence.

Vidya get shocked in to the headiness of her job, even concocting situations to get news - worthy story. Her involvement with the channel, with regards to a sting operation gets her into one mess and she paves her way out of it, just to find herself in another one. She keeps getting pulled into the quicksand, till she finally decides to fight. This film narrates the story of Vidya who is acknowledged by her higher ups when she remains one amongst them and discarded, when she rebels.

A call that Vidya gets from Sangeeta, a girl from Pune, a victim of repeated sexual abuses by the high designators of the local police, puts Vidya onto a tusk of uncovering the truth and packaging it even better.

Vidya plans another coup but the startling revelations fill her with dismay and she is left in a dilemma, while the channel is delighted. It tries to cash on the incident and feed the curiosity of the viewers, thereby leading to a rise in the TRP ratings. Disgusted by the indifferent and inhuman attitude of the news channel towards the sentiments of the victim, Vidya leaves for her Uncle's place who had been insisting her to visit her small press. It is here that she understands the genuine power and nuance of journalism and decides to fight the system. With a bunch of trusted aides, Vidya decides to fight for Sangeeta (the victim), but her aim to seek justice leaves her in abject despair. "It's Breaking News" is a story of this journey of Vidya, from her ignorance to realization to helplessness. "It's Breaking News" is a film that narrates the awakening of a 'strength' that fights the 'weaknesses'. It is this battle that a common man would relate in.
